    April 10, 2026

Fraud-Act-Combatting fraud through a holistic approach and data collection

On  October 30, 2025, in  Paris, the Fraud-Act project was launched, which is co-funded by the European Union, and it aims to combat education fraud and promote academic integrity within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), supporting the quality goals of the  2024 Tirana Communiqué.

Applying a holistic approach based on Council of Europe Recommendation CM/Rec(2022)18, the project focuses on four key pillars: prevention, prosecution, international cooperation and monitoring.  Through peer learning, surveys, and workshops involving BFUG members and QA agencies, the project will produce two primary outputs:

    • A study on transnational initiatives to prevent academic fraud.
    • A publication promoting holistic strategies for academic integrity.

During the kick-off meeting the Coordinator presented the project objectives and  work plan, by setting  up a specific methodology.  It was also agreed what will be  the next steps for defining the project impact plan and strategy for communication and  dissemination.
